Spring is on its way – and that means two things: warmer weather and lighter evenings. Spring is the perfect time to give your home a good clean and declutter; as we gradually move towards a new season, it’s time to start thinking about how you plan to do your big Spring clean. While many people have a long home Spring cleaning checklist, it’s important to remember your garden too.
With the warmer weather and lighter evenings well on their way, your garden is the perfect place to start. Whether you plan to spend your sunny evenings with a book in the comfort of your own garden or enjoying barbeques with your family, it’s important that your garden is a space that you’re proud of.
Below, we share four simple ways to clean up your garden in time for Spring.
Declutter, declutter, declutter
It’s surprising what a good declutter can do. You can transform your garden simply by removing any clutter that has built up over the years – for example, broken garden furniture, old toys and dead plants. Get rid of anything that you no longer need or use; make sure you donate any usable items to charity and take the rest to your local tip to ensure that it’s disposed of properly.
Power wash the patio
A dirty patio can bring down the aesthetic of your garden. If your patio is covered in unsightly moss or has become muddy and discoloured over time, power washing it can instantly brighten your garden and give it a new lease of life. If you don’t have access to a power washer, giving your patio a scrub is a good way to lift the mud. All you need is warm soapy water (or a good patio cleaner) and a stiff brush.
Breathe new life into your lawn
A vibrant green lawn can instantly boost the appearance of your garden, making it look healthier and brighter. If your lawn looks more brown than green, it’s time to give it some TLC. Fertiliser is a great way to revive your lawn and restore your grass to its original vibrant green glory. Remember, your lawn needs care all year round, so make sure you give it plenty of water every week.
Prune the flowers
Taking the time to prune your flowers will make your garden look neat and well-maintained. Spring is a great time to start looking after your flowers and even plant some new ones if you don’t already have them. To keep your flowers looking their best, make sure your pruning tools are clean, sharp and high-quality. Even trimming back the bushes can make all the difference and open your garden space up!
